What the HELL were you thinking? Thanos would absolutely freaking destroy! The guy has taken over the WHOLE Marvel mega verse just for fun! He sets impossible tasks to complete, completes it, then starts over again! Almost all of his plans ends up with either making him OMNIPOTENT or the RULER OF THE UNIVERSE! Thanos with or without the Infinity Gauntlet absolutely obliterates Goku. He took on Hulk, Thor and Silver Surfer at the same time, only to effortlessly curbstomp all of them. He went toe to toe with Odin, fought the likes of the planet eater Galactus, stopped a cosmic force (The Hunger) that eats UNIVERSES (Cosmic beings and Superheroes begged for his help) People say Goku is a combat genius but Thanos is a combat god. He trained the most dangerous assassin in the universe (Gamora) and he regularly beats her in sparring matches without any show of effort. Let’s get on to more technical things. First of all, Thanos can not die. He has been banned from the realm of Death (Making him Immortal) not to mention Death is his lover. His durability is off the charts. There is absolutely NOTHING Goku can do to harm him. Spirit bomb, kamehameha, whatever floats your boat Thanos can’t die (He took a full powered cosmic blast from Silver Surfer and shrugged it off, which can most likely destroy multiple planets at once). Goku can’t win this, sorry. He’s a thousand years too young to even attempt to think on taking on the Mad Titan. Thanos takes on cosmic beings for a living, if the best feat ever mentioned in the Dragon Ball universe is a galaxy destroyed (Broly Movie) then Goku has a negative infinite chance of winning. One final thing, Thanos is one of the smartest beings not just in Marvel, but in all of comic books/fiction. Not once can I recall him being outsmarted. So not only is he a combat master, but he is a scientific genius. The only being that has a more advanced mind than him is probably Galactus, and I’m not counting omniscient beings. Anyways, that’s my argument. Thanos takes this.

@NYC: No proof, no argument. And what does changing my name have to do with anything? I’m a fan of both comics and anime, I change my name according to a favorite character. I’ve seen you around here, all you do is post vapid statements without backing it up at all. I took the time to answer this question to the best of my ability, but you? @Verizon: Really now, there’s no need for that kind of language. I could show you scans of Thanos obliterating existence and you would still pick Goku. Remember, just because Buu was STATED he can destroy a universe, doesn’t mean he actually COULD. For example, in the One Piece manga Whitebeard was stated by Sengoku that he could destroy the world, but does that mean he can do it? No, he has never even been shown destroying continent. This is turning out to be a chat session, so I will no longer argue with you people. It’s up to the asker or the voters.

Goku > Buu by the end so that means Goku can also destroy the Universe.So that puts Goku above Thanos because I have yet to hear Thanos having any feats of that sort

Edit: Buu didn’t say he could destroy the Universe, SUPREME KAI A GOD OF THE DBZ UNIVERSE SAID THAT and he would know better than anybody. If Buu said so himself then I could have taken that into consideration and said he was bragging. Plus they mentioned Buu as a Universe Buster pretty much throughout the whole Saga if they had said it just once then maybe you could have said they were over-exaggerating but they said it more than just once

Goku. Even today I think the writers either ignore or accommodate Thanos’s Death Wish, I don’t think it would be easy but in the end I can’t imagine Thanos wanting to win.
